Wondrous Nature

I saw a buffalo give birth, it was amazing in it’s own way. This was a Western movie. I was around 29 years old. It was in the 60’s, early 70’s. I forgot the name of the movie, but it was the first time I saw an animal give birth. I didn’t take biology in high school, didn’t have any sisters or brothers. Think that was the first time I saw it.

I’m a fan of Westerns. When I was a teenager, from 12 to 15 years old, I would go to the movies on Saturday and watch Westerns for the most part. This was from 1955 to 1958. I would go on Saturday mornings or early Saturday afternoons and watch movies like The Lone Ranger.

Uncovering a Family History

I used the genealogy or the DNA program from That’s very helpful. It helped me learn about my mother’s brother who was the oldest son. My mother came from a family of five brothers and three sisters. She was born in 1907 I believe. But he was born around 1900. He got married around the age of 18. Because he and his bride were teenagers, his father kicked them out of the house because there wasn’t room for them to live. I did learn that he left the family by 1930, but my mother never told me about him.

Actually, my uncle died in 1959 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. I think he committed suicide. I was 16 years old at the time, but my mother never told me about him. That’s one of the saddest stories of my life. showed me the death certificate of my uncle and it said: “self-inflicted gunshot wound.” I think his first wife died around 1929 or so. He married again then had as many as half a dozen children. I met two of his grandchildren. I talked to them over the phone and they came to see me from Louisville, Kentucky. They still live there. I talk to them regularly. I think I have at least a dozen relatives on my mother’s side who live in Louisville, Kentucky.
