A Magical Day on the Slopes
I was with the PSIA, the Professional Ski Instructors of America. I was just a training instructor during that time, the low man on a totem pole. It was the best though though because they spent most of their time trying to teach you how to ski better and make you ski the way everybody else did in that program.
When it became the Christmas season, they had this one big guy, and he was always Santa. He didn’t want to do it that particular year, so he grabbed all of me and he said, you’re going to do it. And I was just an in training ski instructor, so I had no choice in the matter.
I had to dress up like Santa Claus and had to put a couple pillows to make me look heavier. Now I’m heavier, unfortunately, on my own account. But being Santa Clause that day turned out to be one of the most fun days of skiing that I ever had. I was just skiing up and down the mountain, and I had, like a bundle of little gifts that I would stop and I would give to people and little kids. It was kind of a magical day for me.
