Work Life

Oct 15, 2019

I grew up in Puerto Rico. I grew up helping my mom work and everything. Personally, I worked in all types of labors. Eventually, when I got to the U.S. I started working in sewing factories, with clothes. I messed up a lot of clothes along the way, but I enjoyed it. But what I really loved the most was being a home attendant, and working with my “viejito,” it means “old people” but it’s a loving way to say it, it’s not disparaging in any sense. If I could, I would still be working with them.

Why did you stop?

Rent became too expensive, so my mom told me to just live off of what the government is giving you right now. I couldn’t afford the cost of living.
